Senior Contract Geologist

Unconventional Gas Resources Canada, (UGRC) is seeking a senior contract geologist to work in our Calgary office. UGRC is a private company incorporated in February 2007; our focus is unconventional resources. Our team has had prior success in developing the first commercial CBM production in Canada.

This position would be for 1 year to fill in for a maternity leave commencing September 2010; there may be an opportunity for a longer term contract subject to our business needs. We currently have projects in the Alberta Deep Basin, BC Montney and Eagle Ford in South Texas. The successful candidate would be mostly working on Texas and Alberta projects.

The candidate would have 7 to 15 years experience with the following skills:

Requirements

• Geology degree; eligible to be registered with APEGGA as a P.Geol.
• Strong computer skills using standard industry software
• Experience using Petra or a similar mapping program
• Strong analytical skills
• Strength in petrophysics
• Enjoy multi-tasking and small company environment

Other beneficial skills

• US experience would be considered a strong asset
• Operational experience; horizontal well operations an asset
• Shale gas or unconventional experience
• Experience with divesting assets or selling a company
